Despite certain successes in the treatment of epilepsy, primarilyassociated with the active development of pharmacology, in 30% of cases itsresistant course is noted, especially focal forms of temporal epilepsy. One of the main causes is mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS), considered an absoluteepileptogenic substrate, not amenable to conservative treatment in 90-92% ofcases. Surgical treatment seems to be the only method that helps improve thequality of life of such patients. However, the percentage of surgical care forepilepsy remains low. Structured information on clinical manifestations, diagnosticmethods, approaches to surgical treatment and its outcomes should contribute tounderstanding the problem among specialists. Data on the effectiveness ofoperations in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy can help in timely provision ofhigh-techcare to patients with mesial temporal epilepsy
